Is Surehand free to use?
Yes—getting started is free, and our free things-to-do lists stay free. Custom activity agendas start at $49 for NYC, $89 for day trips nearby, and $149 and up for overnight or out-of-state trips. Party planning starts at $69, with on-site day-of help from $50/hour. Tutoring is $95/hr online or $120/hr in-person. You'll always see costs clearly before any work begins.
What happens after I tell you what I need?
Our team reviews it and gets to work—planning, sourcing, and preparing what's needed. We'll send you a plan, or the next thing we need from you, as soon as it's ready.
How is this different from a marketplace or directory?
It isn't one. Surehand isn't a directory of vendors for you to compare—we're the firm you hire. Our own team plans, sources, and delivers the work under our standards, start to finish.
Who actually does the work?
Surehand's own team—planning, sourcing, and delivering it under our standards. We use technology to move faster behind the scenes, but you're working with Surehand, not being handed off to a directory.
What areas do you serve?
We're focused on New York City families today. If you're outside the city, tell us anyway—we're expanding and want to know where to go next.
How do you make sure the work meets a high standard?
Everything Surehand delivers goes through our own standards before it reaches you—reviewing experience, fit, and reliability, not just availability. We're responsible for the outcome, not just for pointing you toward someone who might be good.
Is my family's information kept private?
Yes. We only use what you share to plan and coordinate what you asked for, and we don't sell your information. You're always in control of what you tell us.
How long does it take to hear back?
It depends on what you need—a few quick ideas can come back same-day, while a full birthday party plan takes a bit more time to put together well. We'll keep you posted along the way.
How much input do I have along the way?
Plenty. Surehand handles the execution, but you'll always weigh in on the decisions that actually matter to you—we just won't hand you a stack of vendor profiles to sort through yourself.
What if my custom agenda isn't quite right?
Let us know within 48 hours and we'll do one round of revisions to fine-tune it. A different date, destination, or family joining in counts as a new request rather than a revision.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule a tutoring session?
Sessions can be rescheduled or canceled with at least 24 hours' notice at no charge. Sessions canceled with less notice, or missed without notice, are billed at the full rate, since that time was reserved for your tutor.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule my party plan?
Our planning fee is fully refundable if you cancel before we've started work, or if your event is more than 48 hours out. Once planning calls have been used or work is underway, the fee covers that work and isn't refundable. On-site coordination is only ever billed for the hours actually worked. You pay any vendors—venue, cake, entertainment—directly, so their own policies apply to that part of the cost, not ours.
What if my request doesn't fit neatly into one category?
Tell us anyway. Birthday parties, tutoring, and activities are where we're starting, but the free-text space in every form is there so you can tell us exactly what's going on.
